A P O L L O   12   (Conrad, Bean & Gordon)

The Apollo program was designed to land humans on the Moon and bring them safely back to Earth. Six of the missions (Apollos 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, and 17) achieved this goal. Apollos 7 and 9 were Earth orbiting missions to test the Command and Lunar Modules, and did not return lunar data. Apollos 8 and 10 tested various components while orbiting the Moon, and returned photography of the lunar surface. Apollo 13 did not land on the Moon due to a malfunction, but also returned photographs. The six missions that landed on the Moon returned a wealth of scientific data and almost 400 kilograms of lunar samples. Experiments included soil mechanics, meteoroids, seismic, heat flow, lunar ranging, magnetic fields, and solar wind experiments.

This Space Shot card (#0168) measuring 2.5" x 3.5" is one of the holy grail of images of Conrad on the Moon standing by Surveyor.  ANY signed form of this image is highly sought after and becoming exceedingly difficult to come by at any reasonable price with an 8"x10" photo selling at $500+.  This card was signed in blue sharpie and has been slabbed and authenticated by PSA/DNA.  It is in pristine condition though it appears a bit blurry here because it was scanned thru it's archival card holder..

American Photographer Magazine Limited Edition Print - 1983

hand signed by "Photographer" Charles Conrad Jr.

overall view

from 1983 !!

This beautifully produced limited edition print was offered on the occasion of American Photographer's 5th Anniversary.back in 1983.  Each print in this limited edition of 1000 is numbered as you can see in the scan.  Best of all each is authentically hand signed by Astronaut Pete Conrad.  These are off set printed on high quality paper as described in the origional ad as well as others that were hand chosen for this commemorative series.

Frankly, that these became available was a great surprise to me.  Some of the few remaining examples of this beautiful print were discovered in an an abandoned warehouse. Times have changed as you can also see as the origional asking price for this print in 1983 was only $25!.

This is a quality proof and measures 18" x 24" (paper size) and even more impressive in person than my scans can do justice.  Imagine how amazing this would become if Alan Bean's signature were to be added.

There are only a small handfull of these available and when they're gone, they're gone so I encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity while it lasts.  This a a beautifully produced version of this now classic Apollo 12 image with a Charles Conrad Jr. signature that is big, bold, placed perfectly and in outstanding contrast to the image itself.  it just doesn't get any better!!!

Each print will be shipped in a very heavy mailing tube for safe transport worldwide.

This is one of Farthest Reaches Al Bean showstoppers and as far as I'm aware has not been duplicated elsewhere.  Alan has labled the view of Surveyor III which is just visible thanks to it's reflection in the Sun.  He labels Intrepid and indicates the distance between to two.  Intrepid sits on the other side of the crater but given it was only 600 feet away was considered a pinpoint landing. This of course was that mission's primary objectives.  To top it off Bean signs and includes mission information. The gold paint pen is vibrant, jumping out from the image in great contrast.  Measures 10"x8".  Only two remaining.
